WRITING A NEWS REPORT
When we write a news report, we provide information about a recent event.We present the facts objectively in order of importance. The report should answer the questions : who, what when, where and why. We should use connectors or linking words to make our writing meaningful.
We should divide it into three paragraphs:
Opening: We should write a summary of the event and the most important facts.
Body: We should give details about the events.
Closing: We should write about the significance of the event or reactions and comments.
Here is a list of expressions you can use in your essay:
According to... Due to... As a result of... Sources say...
yesterday... because... For this reason... because of...
last night ... Consequently, ... Apparently... So that ...
